KompoZer Portable is an advanced html web page editor or stand alone portable web editor that is made to run directly from a USB flash drive. It is based on and is a fork of the Nvu editor but addresses many of the bugs found in Nvu. This web page editing app is easy to use assuming that you have used html web page editors like dream weaver or frontpage, before.
KompoZer Portable Web Page Editor
A free open source WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) web authoring tool. It was designed to be an easy to use web editor, allowing users to create and edit web pages without needing to have extensive knowledge of HTML or CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). The software's name was derived a combination of "composer" and "Kompozer" in French, suggesting its purpose of enabling users to compose web pages visually.
The useful web page editing tool includes features such as a built in FTP client for uploading and managing website files, support for forms, tables, and templates, and an intuitive interface for designing web pages. It has often been considered a nice user friendly option for individuals who want to create or edit web content without delving into the complexities of html coding.
KompoZer was originally derived from the Nvu (pronounced "N-view") web editor, and its development was led by Daniel Glazman. Nvu itself was initiated by Linspire, a company known for its Linux based operating system. When Nvu's development stalled, Daniel took up the project and created KompoZer.
The first official release occurred on August 30, 2007. Since then, several versions have been released, with the last stable release being made available on February 28, 2010. While it was a popular choice for a WYSIWYG web editor at its peak, development has largely stalled, and it may not be as actively maintained or updated as more recent web authoring tools. Users interested in web development are encouraged to explore other modern and actively developed alternatives.
